Merry Christmas everyone. I have been at my step-uncle's home in Merritt Island, Brevard County for over three hours now, and I briefly scanned along the Banana River near the house. There was a Common Loon, a couple flocks of Lesser Scaup, and a Bonaparte's Gull today. Crested Caracara and a couple groups of American Robins were seen in south Brevard along I-95. I plan on birding a little more today, and then tomorrow I will bird with Andy Bankert for a couple hours in the morning around Merritt Island National Wildlife Reserve. I still have yet to see Horned Grebe, Redhead, and there is a Ross's Goose nearby. As for state birds I should get Bufflehead, maybe Canvasback and Greater Scaup. And then a couple year birds: Hooded Merganser, Florida Scrub Jay, Marsh and Sedge Wrens, Ruby-crowned Kinglet. I will let you all know how I did tomorrow. Again, Merry Christmas.
