Yesterday I went to the Boynton Beach Inlet area and was checking out the scene at the jetty and I did see a lot of Laughing gulls and Royal Terns. Right before I called it a day and the light was not so good I noticed a gull doing a full circle around the jetty and quickly blended in with all the other common gull and terns. I thought of Bonaparte's but noticed that the legs were not pink. So, today while researching and looking through some online photos, I BELIEVE I have identified this bird correctly. I have to admit that I was surprised because that was not a bird I was expecting to see. It has taken me a while to find a noteworthy and rare bird in our South Florida shores. Maybe this was the best early birthday present. So, without further ado...check it out for yourself. I have posted 2 shots of it. The juveniles obviously look quite different from an adult.
FYI... I have NO idea what direction that bird flew away.
