Message: A terrific group of 25 tireless birders (including an 11-year-old who played hooky to help and therefore, shall remain nameless) surveyed part of Everglades National Park for the Long Pine Key CBC. Our area begins at Taylor Slough and ends just beyond Paurotis Pond. Dick Cunningham designed this extraordinary count circle in 2000 that includes a variety of habitats and sub-sets of birds. Thank you to all! We had 112 species and some highlights for this count are:

White-tailed Kite (2)
Snail Kite (5)
Bald Eagle (2)
Swainson s Hawk
American Woodcock
Lesser Nighthawk
Least Flycatcher (3)
Barn Swallow (20)
Yellow Golden Warbler
Eastern Yellow Palm Warbler (2)
Yellow-breasted Chat (3)
Chipping Sparrow
Indigo Bunting
