: On the way to the scissortails we saw two very weird lizards on the low stone fence in front of Farm Life Elementary School, the persistently "under renovation" historical school at SW 248 St and SW 162 Ave. We checked some field guides and some websites and still can't figure it out. It kinda looks like the agama on southalley.com (and the location description for that one sounds right too) but that one was very colorful. Instead, these have bright green markings on their heads and are mostly tan. They have muscular legs. They kinda look like curly-tailed lizards but without the curly & keeled tail. Any suggestions? Plus we saw all eleven scissortails and two western kingbirds. They seem to dislike car doors opening. Yesterday we saw them in the far corner on 312 St, today they were in the Australian pine on 217th Ave & 312th.

This is a female redheaded agama, there is a resident population of these in the Redlands. In the summer you can see the males perched around on the high spots in the afternoon. They will be black bodied with bright red heads. Douglas
