For those that haven't heard, the road to Flamingo is open again. Snake Bight and Bear Lake Trail are open, Rowdy Bend and Christian Point are closed. Right now, much of the Flamingo area remains off-limits. Only the easternmost parking lot is open.

The female Vermilion Flycatcher has returned to Paurotis Pond. Mahogany Hammock had a nice warbler flock including Magnolia and BT Green. Few birds were seen on Snake Bight trail, but a Barred Owl was a nice surprise. Visibility at the end continues to worsen with the eastern mud flat now containing even more vegetation than last winter. I also notice that the drainage has changed on the western flat in a way that is worse for shorebird viewing (fewer puddles). Highlights at Snake Bight were Bald Eagle, masses of Skimmers and White Pelicans, and Great Black-backed Gull.
