At about 1:00 p.m. today, I watched a dark-phase Short-tailed Hawk soaring over the intersection of Salzedo and Sidonia in the Gables. Since this is only a few blocks from the heavily urbanized corner of Tamiami Trail and LeJeune Road, its presence there was sort of surprising (to me, anyway).
