Common Loons in Jensen Beach

Common Loons were fairly numerous and visible from shore in the Atlantic off Jensen Beach yesterday. All were on the water, and several were sleeping.

Numbers of Northern Gannets headed southward offshore had diminished significantly from the large numbers passing on Thanksgiving weekend. Small groups well offshore totaled about 70 an hour. Several immature Gannets, closer to the beach, were plunge-diving for fish -- always a spectacular sight.
