Yesterday my son Philip and I went to look for the Townsend's Warbler. We met Joy and Mark who were already there. We hardly saw anything at the Annex although Joy found an immature male Rose-breasted Grosbeak high in a Strangler Fig. We walked over to the spreader canal and walked down the west side of it going north. We were hoping to hear or see the Virgina Rail reported by Rangel. We heard the bird but never saw it. It was down the west side of the canal about half way to Lucky Hammock. As the sun set, we had great views of three Sora Rails who each walked up the berm and flew to the brush in the spreader canal from the flooded area on the west side of the berm. Across the paved road to the west, we heard a Blue Grosbeak calling.
