I hear you. American Kestrels are so common this time of the year that I honestly did not attempt to count them. Had I had a co-pilot with me I'd have him/her take that task. I must have seen several dozens. At a distance they don't look anything exciting but you get an up close shot or see it with your binoculars it is such a gorgeous bird! I've noticed that right before they leave South Florida, the males start getting all the amazing colors accentuated and they look amazing! (late Feb- early Mar)
