A big surprise at AD Barnes this morning were 2 Wood Ducks, a new bird for the park. The first was seen flying across the pond, rising to about 15 feet over the water, heading towards the lakes across 72nd. Right after the first disappeared, I saw a second, farther away, but flying from same area, heading more westerly. I think both had been near the pavilion on the pond nearest Bird RD.
Also seen today were Summer Tanager, Spot-breasted (heard) and Baltimore Orioles, and 8 species of warbler.
