Thirteen warbler species were present this morning at Enchanted Forest in North Miami. As usual, most birds were around to playground at the southwestern corner of the park. Here is a list of the winter residents seen or heard:
Broad-winged Hawk- 1
Eastern Phoebe- 1
White-eyed Vireo- 1
Blue-headed Vireo- 2
Blue-gray Gnatcatcher
Ovenbird- 3
Worm-eating Warbler- 1
Black-and-white Warbler- 4
Orange-crowned Warbler- 1
Common Yellowthroat- 2
American Redstart- 1
Northern Parula- 5
Magnolia Warbler- 1
Black-throated Blue Warbler- 3
Palm Warbler
Yellow-rumped Warbler
Prairie Warbler- 1
Black-throated Green Warbler- 1
Painted Bunting- 2
Due to a good bit of standing water in the park along with the unseasonably warm and humid weather, there were plenty of mosquitoes. Bird activity shut down quickly, with the temperature hitting 80 F by 10:00.
