This locations is 5-6 miles west of 29. It's between Desoto Blvd and Ana Maria Blvd on Oil Well Road. Oil Well Road runs from Immokalee to Hwy 29. Look for the large impoundment on the north side. Or look for the birders lining the road side.If you are coming from the east, Oil Well road is two-lane, then four lane past Ava Maria. When it goes from 4 lane to 2 lane again, the lake is on your right. The water is dropping and the number of birds is gradually getting smaller. However, if you go near sunrise or sunset you will get the greatest numbers of birds. Sandhill cranes and White pelicans are especially numerous early.
