Made a quick run down to Everglades NP this morning. Things were pretty quiet, but I did have two American Bitterns on the north side of the main road, one at the first bridge past the entrance station and the other near Long Pine Key. Circling low over Research Road was a dark-morph Short-tailed Hawk, while a long line of American White Pelicans crossed high above heading west. Saw an adult Bald Eagle on the south side of the road four miles past Pa-Hay-Okee. Flushed a Wilson's Snipe a mile west of Rock Reef Pass. Actually, my main plan was to find snakes, but the only one I got was a slim 2-ft skeleton with so little skin left I couldn't ID it for sure (probably a racer). Even the crows weren't interested.
