Went to Boynton Beach Inlet to check it out and had the following:
Royal Terns - many
Sandwich Terns - 2
Semipalmated Plovers -10
Sandpipers - 6
Lots of Brown Pelicans
Ruddy Turnstone -12
Black-bellied Plovers -2
Lesser Black-backed Gull - some (immatures & one in its last winter before adulthood)
Ring-billed Gull (immature & one in adult plumage)
Believe it or not...in an hour there were less Northern Gannets out in the ocean than fingers on my hands. This may indicate that most of them have already migrated to wherever they end up southbound. This is speculation based on my observations from past weeks of course!
A few days before, I think I spotted some Jaegers and I am not claiming specifics here on what type because it's hard to tell them accurately from the shore. However, I was able to see what it seems an extension at the tail on the bird in the middle of the shot ( can't tell if it's elongated or rounded). Again, I am NOT claiming anything here. Just an observation ( the photo is a large file).
Had 2 Magnificent Frigatebirds (female & immature)
I think this concludes my report for today.
