A pair of Hooded Merganzers spotted by binoculars at Viera Wetland Sunday afternoon late. They were keeping their distance from several rafts of coots and one very active otter that was tearing up the marsh grass trying to catch coot.

The merganzers were seen on the last leg of the exit road before your leave Viera. This is exactly where we spotted a pair last year (same pair?). Gusty winds and rain prevented photographs.

Traffic on turnpike was unbelievably heavy.....time to watch for snowbirds.
