Went to the Boynton Inlet this weekend and had the following:
One Willet
Two Black-bellied Plovers - they were hunting for food and flying displaying its beautiful colors for me to see.
A few Herring Gulls (3rd winter and now some adults are showing up)
A few Black-backed Lesser Gull
One male American Kestrel flying right above me.
Some Pelagic birds ( you label it if you wish - The best birder in the world should solve this case:). _ _ _ (this is an easy hangman problem since it's a three-letter word).
One Sandwich Tern
Several Laughing & Royal
Two Plover Sandpiper
40 some Sanderlings
Dozens of Brown Pelicans in flocks of 20+
Lots and lots of Northern Gannets (ranging from one solitary bird and up to 13 in a flock). Finally, one immature decided to check me out on the beach and flew close by. I must have seen about 100+ (mostly adults).
There were a very large flock (40+) Black Scoters flying right above the water but they were heading south (strike against Miami-Dade? - don't know). They were ALL flying right beside one another harmoniously.
Last but not least... I had another flock of 40some birds (97% Red-breasted Mergansers +2% Lesser Scaup + 1% Black Scoter (we're not talking about low-fat or skim milk here:). Believe me, my math is very accurate. The photo is nice. Couldn't make it any sharper because they were in a distance but if you zoom in you'll see them very clearly.
I think this is it.
Marcello
