Are they male, female, or immature? Every winter I see 2-3 off and on in my yard. All seem to be females. As usual, they are quite skittish, leaving the flowers and flying across the street to a tall arjun tree when I come outside. My spot-breasted pair still comes daily- they are very tame. When I drag the garbage or recycling bins by them on the way to the curb, they just give me a casual glance. I have at least one returning hummingbird this year.
