Trey and I started before sunrise at the Annex on the road to the old fish farm where were immediately heard a VIRGINIA RAIL, then farther west a KING RAIL and a flyby AMERICAN BITTERN! From the levee to the new canal we added NORTHERN WATERTHRUSH and COMMON YELLOWTHROATS! We also had several EASTERN PHOEBES throughout the area. At Lucky Hammock we saw lots of HAMMOCKY STUFF, but no birds other than 3 BLUE JAYS! At the intersection of Aeroject Rd and 9336 we saw 2 BLUE GROSBEAKS!! Along the main road between Aerojet Rd and the C-111 we saw several LOGGERHEAD SHRIKES and a huge flock of EUROPEAN STARLINGS!!!

From here we went into the park. At Taylor Slough we saw 2 more AMERICAN BITTERNS, some WADERS, and a SAVANNAH SPARROW!!! We also saw a lot of SLOUGH STUFF! At the hammock on the Royal Palm Road we found a PRAIRIE WARBLER, 2 GREAT CRESTED FLYCATCHERS, a GNATCATCHER, and a lot more HAMMOCKY STUFF!!!!

We then went to Gate 15 where again we failed to find any mergansers, but we did see 2 NORTHERN MOCKINGBIRDS on top of the mound!!!!!!!! On the walk back we found another SAVANNAH SPARROW, so we ended up with 2 SAVANNAH SPARROWS for the day!!!

At the quarry lake we found a distant flock of little black dots that at high scope power appeared to be LESSER SCAUP!!!! Finally, at Cutler Wetlands we found COOT, COOT, COOT, COOT, COOT, COOT, COOT, COOT, COOT, MOTTLED DUCK, MOTTLED DUCK, COMMON GALLINULE, COOT, COOT, COOT, COOT, COOT, COOT, COOT, COOT, small flock of BLUE-WINGED TEAL, a couple of GREEN-WINGED TEAL, COOT, COOT, COOT, COOT, COOT, COOT, and COOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wow, I hadn't realized that putting the names in capitals and using exclamation points DOES make it seem like a better birding trip!
