Wakodahatchee is open again and a little worse for the wear.

Good News: The nesting trees for the GBH survived as did the tall tower. Blue-winged teal are in abundance. Water is lowered. Snipe were visible.

Better News: Hooded merganzer is present and was most accomodating for the photographers that gathered this morning. It was a regular meet-and-greet until the merganzer was discovered then all the photo-buggers reverted to their normal selves. (Joke guys and gals). Paul L, Florida Jeff, Dee, shake it out and come on up.

Best News: Wilma removed much of the tall vegetation leaving the area looking more like Merritt Island or Green Cay at opening then what it used to be. There is vegetation, and planting going on but snipe, yellowlegs, coots, gallinules, moorhens, ibis, herons, etc., are just plain visible. No place to hide. Chip shot for the photographers.

Worst news: Sad to say, Paul-the-other is probably now the last of the film users as this virtual film dinosaur was shooting his eyeballs out with pictures by the score. Immune to the hoots and catcalls of his brother and sister photographers he plodded along with his N-80 smoking. (Remember you digit-doers my scans come in at 12meg while you agonize over 8.5 ers)

So, all you TAS ers, come on up to WPB and get a 2-fer. Wakodahatchee on Jog road and Green Cay one mile west. Warblers are coming in and a large flock of ring-necked ducks, scaup, green-winged teal and a canvas back or two landed at the retention pond area of the 81 exit from the turnpike. Wilma blew the fence down by the trailer as you pay toll and exit so viewing and pictures is easy. 300mm + will do nicely.

Enjoy.
