Hi Bill,
I'm in the "dark room" so to speak right now. I may have one shot that may be helpful to this case. Hopefully, this shot will spare any HATE you might have of being wrong.

I hope this one helps, If not I'll have to dig deeper to find one. I will also insert a photo of a Black Tern I took at the Glades area in the summer for contrasts' delight - click on it if you wish.

My own comments...
I may be wrong sometimes but not ALL the time. On this one, I'll stand my grounds. If not, I am ready to eat every word I am writing in here.
When you look at some of the photos the bird may appear larger than what it is. I had to crop since the bird had a certain distance and if I left it small it'd really be so much harder to tell what it was. Being there I was able to see that it was a small size tern (even though it may look much bigger on my photos). Believe me when I say that I was hoping for a Sooty but I could not find one shot online that matched what I have here.
