Black scoters have been sighted off Pinellas and Pasco Counties, flying north. There was also a recent report from St. Marks NWR in the panhandle. The birds on the upper gulf could get there directly from the breeding grounds or by wrapping around the state and back up as the Razorbills did last winter. It's another banner year for this species in Florida.
