Hi All,

David Powell and I drove down from Tampa today to spend time photographing butterflies at Everglades NP and surrounding areas. We found a few good birds too. In the butterfly garden at Castellow Hammock we found a beautiful Clay-colored Sparrow, at least 3 Ruby-throated Hummingbirds (1 adult male), & 1 Orange-crowned Warbler. Along the Greenway we also had a Grasshopper Sparrow. Unfortanately we did not have time to check out Lucky Hammock. Best butterflies were 2 Dingy Purplewings inside Castellow Hammock, 2 Gray Ministreaks at the Greenway and a flyby Florida Leafwing along the road leading into Long Pine Key. Should be back on another trip in the early spring (unless a good bird pops up before then!)
Good birding,
