I visited Castellow Park very briefly this morning. The park is closed Monday's/Tuesday's but Linda, a staff member said it is fine to park right outside the closed gate. The sign on the gate today said closed for cleaning but she assured me it still o.k. to walk through the park (as long as you stay out of the way of those cleaning.) It is open from sunrise to sunset. Immediately upon arrival, I saw a nice Rufous Hummingbird at the blooming Orchid Tree to the left on the entrance road just before the parking lot. It put on a nice show for me hovering for prolonged periods directly above the tree! Very nice. It appears to be a female immature. A very nice male (immature) Black-throated Green Warbler was present in a large Oak Tree directly North of the Parking lot. It was very co-operative and though it was immature, it was still with very nice coloring. I have been looking for one of these this season and when I saw the recent post about the spotting of this species I decided to check it out.
