On Sunday I had an interesting yard bird:
walking in my backyard, I saw a raptor coming down the canal berm adjacent to my yard, flying about 2-3 feet off the ground. My first thought was Cooper's , but quickly realized it was a Northern Harrier, hunting the canal edge! I've recorded Harriers in my yard before, but always flying high overhead.
Also seen: a Yellow-throated Vireo (been here a week now), Downy Woodpecker, Ovenbird, 6 Catbirds, and Painted Bunting.
