I stopped briefly at AD Barnes this morning to look for the Western Tanager. Most of the bird activity was in the pines around the main drive and the Butterfly Garden in the median roundabout near the Nature Center. The Western Tanager was flying in the pines north of the Nature Center and was readily visible on several occasions. In the Butterfly Garden itself, a Bell's Vireo emerged (and then quickly disappeared) in the thick vines on the west side of the circle. It never called; I only noticed because there were a number of other birds in the vegetation. I believe this is now the third straight year for Bell's in this same general area; hopefully it will stay for the CBC.
Other birds of note were 2 Rose-breasted Grosbeaks, House Wren, Swainson's Thrush, and 6 sp. of warbler.
