I hit Black Point Jetty early this morning to see if the north wind brought anything in. Nothing much on the jetty itself except for the usual shorebirds. As I was leaving I saw a dark bird flying in from the east to the south side of the jetties. I put my binocs on it and noticed it was an all-black duck with a white patch on the trailing edge of the upper wings. It was about 100 yards away and flying fast. I followed it as long as I could until it flew away to the south. Might be a good time to start monitoring both Black Point and Conway Point jetties for winter goodies. On the way in I saw a perfect Yellow Warbler to accent the morning. Cheers.
