I also have resorted to removal of feeders at night due to rats. The only ones I do not have to remove are the ones mounted on poles with baffles beneath the feeders. Three of my six feeders have the cages. The two buntings I saw this morning I did not see later in the day. It is incredible how the C. Grackles have taken over. Time will tell as to whether the P. Buntings will stay or not.
