Green Cay on Saturday afternoon was surprisingly busy, especially near the front two feeders and in the parking lot. Lots of warblers hanging about, including dozens to hundreds of the more common variety. Palm warblers, yellow-rumped warblers, pine warblers were en masse - there were dozens of pines in the parking lot trees, and a dozen or so yellow-rumped and palm. A few juvenile prairies mixed in - threw me off at first because of the white around the eyes that made me think they were something else.

Painted buntings were also back in high numbers - at least 3 male and 2 female by the front feeders, 2 more females and a male by the southeast feeders, and 2 more males at the east gazebo.

I got a good look at an ovenbird by the front feeder, quite a few brown thrashers in the park, sora are back as well with at least 4 spotted. Dozens of blue-grey gnatcatchers, and at least 4 yellow-throated warblers continue by the chickee hut. Several black-and-white warblers in the cypress canopy. Common yellowthroats in abundance.

Several red-shouldered hawks were active. Baby alligators hatched about a week ago just to the west of the building. Also baby gators quite recently hatched this weekend at Wakodahatchee. Neotropical cormorants continue at Wakodahatchee on the first island - one looks like a hybrid female, and a more distinct looking male (as previously reported) is still there - they surely look to be nested.
