Yesterday just west of the Seminole reservation off Snake Road, we ran into two Kingfishers, one male and one female, that allowed us to observe them about 100 feet away as they played on the wires. For more than one hour the male would fly to the female and the female would fly away and land on a wire close by. Then the male would fly over to the female and the female would fly a short distance. The whole time the two were chattering. As most birders and photographers know, you slow down or stop close to a Kingfisher and they fly away. This pair did not care that we were photographing them. The male never touched the female. Were they a pair still "friendly" after mating up north or were they mother and son?
