Stayed close to home looking for a Bird-A-Day. Started at the marsh south of the quarry lake on 107 Ave. before dawn, then checked out Dump Marsh, the landfill, Cutler Wetlands, and Sadowski Park. In short, birding was extremely slow, but I did hear a Sora for the day. Also heard before dawn: Great Horned Owl, Wilson's Snipe, Chuck-will's-widow, and King Rail. Songbird highlights included Blue Grosbeak, both buntings, and 7 species of common warblers.
Gray Catbirds and Common Yellowthroats are here in force, which makes it feel like winter, but without the winter goodies. Does anyone have anything to report? Did anyone bird today?
