Eight birders joined me for today's Fairchild Birding Festival walk at AD Barnes. The group saw lots of migrant birds, especially in the nature center area. After lunch, I returned to the park and birded for several more hours, adding several species to my day list. I did not see the Philadelphia Vireo reported by others, nor was I able to relocate a Kentucky Warbler that Bonnie saw this morning. I did tally the following:
Muscovy Duck
Turkey Vulture
Merlin
Common Gallinule
White-crowned Pigeon
Eurasian Collared-Dove
Mourning Dove
macaw sp. (heard)
Aratinga sp. (flyover)
Ruby-throated Hummingbird
Belted Kingfisher
Red-bellied Woodpecker
Downy Woodpecker
"Trail's" Flycatcher
Empidonax sp. (the mystery flycatcher photographed yesterday)
Yellow-throated Vireo (heard)
Red-eyed Vireo
Blue Jay
Tree Swallow
Carolina Chickadee (near the nature center parking area)
Tufted Titmouse (behind the nature center office)
Blue-gray Gnatcatcher
Swainson's Thrush
Gray Catbird
Northern Mockingbird
Tennessee Warbler
Northern Parula
Chestnut-sided Warbler (in the oak with hanging feeders near the nature center office)
Black-throated Blue Warbler
Pine Warbler
Prairie Warbler
Palm Warbler
Black-and-white Warbler
American Redstart
Worm-eating Warbler
Ovenbird
Common Yellowthroat
Scarlet Tanager
Northern Cardinal
Rose-breasted Grosbeak
Red-winged Blackbird
Common Grackle
Spot-breasted Oriole (heard)
