A walk today down Jones Grade at the northeastern corner of Fakahatchee Strand State Preserve didn t turn up any unusual bird. There was a Louisiana Waterthrush, a Veery, a few Gray Catbirds, and a F0S House Wren but nothing surprising. The high point of the day was a Water Moccasin that had just taken what looks to me like a shrew, but I am not certain which species. Water is still flowing across the grade in one area and is about knee deep at the deepest point.
