I went up to Research Rd before sunrise to look for sparrows only to be
disappointed. I only saw one Savannah and a possible Lapland Longspur. I got a
good look at the longspur but I was in my van and when I tried to position
myself to take a photo the bird flew. I saw both birds along the road close to
the missile base gate.

I also saw this Meadow Lark, Red Shoulder Hawk, Harrier, Prairie, Palm,
Myrtle, Wood Storks, White Ibis, Lesser Yellow Legs, Shrike, Mockingbird, BG
Gnatcatcher and heard a House Wren crying from the missile base.

These deer were on one of the levies to the west off of Research Rd.

Savannah Sparrow

I saw this Swamp Sparrow just to the east of the road at the beginning of the
Annex near where the sign use to be while looking for the Lincoln's Sparrow. .

I finally got my photo of the Lincoln's Sparrow, although it isn't great. The
bird stayed out in the open for a few minutes, but hid behind the leaf the
entire time. I saw it at the same location as the Swamp Sparrow.

I also got a brief look at the Vesper Sparrow on the east side of the road at
Lucky Hammock.

BTW: On Sunday evening just after the sunset John Boyd and I saw some
nightjars flying over the field to the South and West of Lucky Hammock. They
were probably Lesser Nighthawks. I also saw one Nighthawk fly out from around
the hammock which showed its white patches on the wings. In total there were at
least 6 or 7 nightjars seen at Lucky Hammock.

It is always nice to accomplish what you set out to do, and then some. I got
my photo of the Lincoln's and the Swamp Sparrow is a life bird.

Myrtles were plentiful off Research Rd.

Prairie Warbler
