The park was loaded with birds yesterday. We feared it would be empty since Friday was a relatively clear day and expected that the birds would have headed south. We saw 14 warbler species including Swainson's, Nashville, and a very active male hooded. Also saw a flock of blue grosbeaks, summer tanagers, lots of Swainson's thrushes and at least one gray-cheeked. Also memorable were 5 yellow-billed cuckoos flying out over the water, western, eastern, and gray kingbirds perched together in one tree, and manatees frolicking right off the beach in the snorkeling area. The Austrailian pines were thick with palm warblers, prairie warblers, and blue-gray gnatcatchers.
