Of Sparrows and Vireos...

First, I'd like to thank Larry Manfredi again (how could we not mention this from the start, shame on us!) for locating that Bell's Vireo to begin with. We thank Sir Larry for that and other goodies this year, such as the Alder Flycatcher. We shall dub him "King of the Annex" from now on.
Second, I'd like to mention that someone in our group on Friday (maybe John Boyd?) also saw a very pale Savannah Sparrow. I don't recall seeing the bird myself, but I'm wondering if this could've been, as Steve Siegel mentioned, a representative of the "Ipswich" race. It may be worth keeping an eye out for it next time anyone's birding that area. Lot's of sparrows out there folks; let's go find a Henslow's or a Harris's.
Third, kudos to those of you with ridiculous nicknames (Toe, Cali Boy, ???, Wal, Paul Bithorn), you make the birding community of South Florida even more exciting. I'm thinking of joining in and giving myself a nickname: Engelbert Humperdinck. Bird on!

Cheers,
RJ
