OK, Trey and I met up with Larry at Sucky Hammock and had our hopes of a good migrant day crushed right off the bat. Migrant numbers were very low, with warblers in singles except for a couple of BORING Redstarts and DRAB Parulas. We had a HEARD Yellow-breasted Chat at Sucky Hammock, a few POS, I mean FOS Palm Warblers, some MUNDANE Common Yellowthroats, and TWO BLAND Magnolias. At the Annex Larry discovered a huge clump of BEES on the yellow gate. How are those bee stings Larry? Here bird activity was even LOWER than at Sucky Hammock. We added ANOTHER Magnolia, a HEARD then SEEN N. Waterthrush, and the THAT'S-SO-LAST-MONTH Willow Flycatcher. No sign of the Alders. We also had a CALLING Least Flycatcher that gave us some quick looks.

At the C-111 Larry found an Alder Flycatcher. Trey and I then checked the C-111E and found two FRUITING FIGS that had some activity. Best bird here was a NICE Pronothatory Warbler and a REALLY PLAIN Cape May. We also had a COOPERATIVE Eastern Wood Pewee, a LACKLUSTER female Black-throated Blue, a HO-HUM Prairie Warbler, a BEEN-THERE-DONE-THAT Great Crested FLycatcher that caught our attention for a second, some UNIMPORTANT Red-eyed Vireos, and more CRAPPY Common Yellowthroats. We also had a Yellow-throated Warbler, YAWN.

Bottom line, looks like I'll be using Blue Jay as my Bird-A-Day. No thrushes, orioles, tanagers, interesting raptors, cool vireos, rare vagrants, Golden-winged, Blackburnian, or even a Tennessee, NOTHING!

The forecast calls for SW winds for next Saturday and a 60% chance of rain, so maybe next weekend, but only if our luck changes.

The migrant list:
Eastern Wood Pewee
Alder Flycatcher
Willow Flycatcher
Least Flycatcher
Great Crested Flycatcher (maybe not all migrants?)
Eastern Kingbird
Gray Kingbird
Red-eyed Vireo (surprised?)
White-eyed Vireo (some assumed to be migrant due to numbers)
Pronothatory Warbler
Northern Parula
Magnolia Warbler
Cape May Warbler
Black-throated Blue Warbler
Yellow-throated Warbler
Prairie Warbler
Palm Warbler
American Redstart
Worm-eating Warbler
Ovenbird
N. Waterthrush
Common Yellowthroat
Yellow-breasted Chat
