Approximately 15 birders joined me for today's Matheson Hammock birdwalk. We had a reasonable amount of activity and ended up with 9 warbler species: Ovenbird, Northern Waterthrush, Black-and-white Warbler, Common Yellowthroat, American Redstart, Northern Parula, Black-throated Blue Warbler, Yellow-throated Warbler, and Prairie Warbler. There were plenty of Blue-gray Gnatcatchers and Red-eyed Vireos, and a smaller number of Yellow-throated Vireos. At least three of the YT Vireos sang their "three-eight" song. Other birds of note included Ruby-throated Hummingbird, Sharp-shinned Hawk, Yellow-chevroned Parakeet, a couple of macaws that were likely Blue-and-yellow, and Hill Mynas.
