Very quiet at Barnes this morning. Rangel and Bill were at the nature center with few birds, so I decided to try Homeless Hammock. There was a little activity, with some waterthrushes and ovenbirds on the ground. On the paved path on the east side of Homeless Hammock I got a quick look at a male Wilson's Warbler, which seems early to me since my previous earliest bird was Oct. 8. I second-guessed myself, and thought about maybe it being a female hooded, and since Rangel still needs that one for the year I called him to come over. When he got there we pished in the area but nothing came out, but from a different area up pops a female Kentucky Warbler, which Rangel also needed for the year. We also had a male Baltimore Oriole and Alder Flycatcher in this area. Not many birds, but decent considering the conditions are not favorable for us to get big numbers.
I mentioned male birds twice, so I owe Robin a $2 fee. :(
The list:
Yellow-throated Vireo
Red-eyed Vireo
Northern Parula
Prairie Warbler
Black-and-White Warbler
American Redstart
Worm-eating Warbler
Ovenbird
Northern Waterthrush
Kentucky Warbler
Wilson's Warbler
Baltimore Oriole
