After work this afternoon I decided to head down to Lucky Hammock to look for
the Clay Colored and Lincoln's Sparrows. I looked for a while and spotted the
Clay Colored fairly quickly, but didn't get good looks or a photo. Soon after I
spoke with Toe and he decided to join me.
That was a good thing. Now I had a good spotter and I could concentrate on
photos and not miss things while doing that. It took a little while, but soon
Toe located a Clay Colored and shortly there after we saw a Lincoln's. Both were
only quick looks, but certainly Identifiable. I didn't get a photo of the Clay
Colored until just before leaving and I got it on the other side of the road in
the shrubs near the field.
Then a bit of excitement. We spotted a large sparrow with a mostly gray
underside, two wing bars and a rufus crest. It was a White Crowned Sparrow. We
were not expecting to find that one, but we were sure glad to see and photograph
it.
