I'm sure he meant eastern race, which is more often referred to as Yellow Palm Warbler as opposed to Western Palm Warbler which is the ubiquitous palm warbler in South Florida. Like Audubon's and Myrtle Warblers these are currently considered to be conspecific, but have fairly distinct plumage and range differences. Usually Yellow Palm Warbler is not found south of Northcentral Florida, but there are occasional records from further south.
