Drove myself to Peaceful Waters Sanctuary in Wellington this early afternoon. I was greeted by a beautiful juvenile Cooper's Hawk circling the wetlands. As I entered the boardwalk area i saw several dozens of Barn Swallow zipping by and catching almost invisible gnats and there was plenty around. There were several Loggerhead Shrike who continue to sing even though I must have been 10 ft away (one of the shots) the other one was pretty as well but at least twice as far as the singing buddy. There was a juvenile Purple Gallinule (in one shot you'll see all its developmental stages) around and Common Gallinules as well. A few minutes later, a juvenile Bald Eagle flew by but too high up and by the time I saw it I could only see its back. Nothing as far as warblers because that place is really only good for Palm, Common Yellowthroat ,and Yellow-rumped warblers later in the season.
Now, moving right along... I added a photo of what I judged to be a partial-leucistic Boat-tailed Grackle I found some time back - really cool dulce de leche colors. It kept being harassed by other BTGR around West Boynton Park. If you appreciate birds, you won't regret seeing it.
