The 2002 TAS Birdathon numbers are in:

Most species seen by a team: 121 counted by "Life is good..." -- Paul Bithorn & Bruce Purdy.
Most species seen by an individual: 98 counted by Brian Rapoza.

Congratulations, gentlemen.

The total money raised by our 2002 Birdathon, as of today, is a bit over $3000. Nancy Freedman was the top money raiser at $760.50.

Congratulations, Nancy and everyone who participated. And it's not too late to participate... if you pledge $35 (or more) you will receive a genuine Birdathon 2002 silkscreened, 100% cotton beefy t-shirt featuring Audubon's White-tailed Kite. And you will help TAS *clear* $3000 on the birdathon after paying for T-shirts -- it will only take only another 12 people pledging $35 each to do this. If you don't feel like downloading a birdathon pledge form from the website, just send a check to TAS (5530 Sunset Drive, Miami 33143) and clearly indicate "birdathon" and your t-shirt size on the check.

Next year's birdathon (it's not going away...) will be even more fun. For starters, instead of a designated single day for the event, there will a two-week period during which you can choose when to do your birdathon. We're also considering having a "gonzo" option which allows teams 48 consecutive hours to count birds. You could start at Pensacola and finish at Garden Key, for example. Please let us know if you would be interested in the gonzo option.
