Colin Hughes on his most recently post make an accurate description of what's around Brown's Farm Rd. I don't own a scope so I couldn't tell precisely all the shorebirds there. I knew they were so far away and a photo of them would not do justice to their looks. I think I could add that there were a few dozen Laughing Gulls around to add to the list. I went further down on this road and I didn't see anything earth shattering. For comparison's sake it seems that last year we had many more flooded fields and more variety of birds around. So, like Toe likes to say...On this date last year, things were a lot better. Not to say that the trip was in vain. I got a nice close up on a Red-shouldered hawk. There were many Barn Swallows, a few Bank Swallows and an equal amount of Tree Swallows. The Swallow pie ratio was about 90% Barn, 5% Bank, and 5% Tree. I did not see any Cliff or Purple Martins this time. Had a nice portrait of a "gray" Little Blue Heron as well.
As far as the White Pelicans...They were in the hundreds. Many of them looked to be juveniles with a lighter pink color on their bill.
