Bird bonanza on Brown's

Just a mile or so south on Brown's farm road there is a wet field surrounded by drying canals. Every wading bird in Palm Beach county seems to be there; there were huge numbers of egrets, mostly Snowy and Great, hundreds of Wood Storks, and unexpectedy, hundreds of White Pelicans. The birds had hauled a few larger fish out of the canals, so there were vultures sitting around, so unconcerned about the car that I could admire them close up. There was even an eagle sitting in the field.
The bare mud fields had attracted crowds of migrating shore birds, particularly Western, Least, and Stilt Sandpipers, but there were lots of Spoonbills, a few Avocets, Dowitchers, Turnstones, Blackbellied and Semipalmated Plovers. Gull-billed and Black terns flew up and down the canals. So many birds I've probably forgotten a few.
The field was pretty wet, and a rain shower was coming, plus the canals were still stuffed with fish, so I think the place will be crowded for a few more days.
