I found 17 shorebird species at Tigertail Beach on Marco Island this morning, including the first Whimbrel I've seen there in years. Other shorebirds seen: Black-bellied, Wilson's, Semipalmated, Piping and Snowy Plover, Greater Yellowlegs, Willet, Marbled Godwit, Spotted, Semipalmated, Western and Least Sandpiper, Ruddy Turnstone, Red Knot, Sanderling and Short-billed Dowitcher. Impressive numbers of Black Skimmers continue in the breeding colony; also present were Least, Sandwich and Royal Terns. One Herring Gull was present among the many Laughing. Both morphs of Reddish Egret were also present.
