I have in my possession a deceased painted bunting, found by a colleague as she arrived at work at Barry University Library. It had crashed into a window, and died, but only recently. It was still warm. As she picked it up, she was rebuked by a sorely disapointed cat who yowled at her as she picked up what it apparently hoped was a convenient breakfast.
The bird, a beautiful male specimen, is in a zip-lock bag now. I could put it in my freezer if an ornithologist on the Birdboard would like to arrange to collect it for study. Otherwise I will bury it in my backyard near a parakeet that died a couple years ago.
