The morning of 7/11 before leaving on the TAS Panama trip, I saw 10 less than 24 hour old chicks at the colony, plus over 100 adults. Returning on 7/28 I found 4 chicks still fluffy and two more a bit older all together actively being fed by three adults. They could all fly, though some not well yet. They had to run to avoid feet, although this area has less human traffic. The rest of the colony was gone. Both large taped off areas were empty. When we first discovered the colony we saw over 50 eggs and notified FWC. Ricardo Zambrano counted over 52 nests - many with two eggs. He felt this was a re-nesting and very late in the season. John Boyd counted over 425 terns early on. I hope more than 6 chicks fledged but that is all I saw.
