Toe, Toe's friend Peter Pulido and I went South this morning hoping for a wide
variety of warblers and other migrating birds.
We went to Royal Palm first and found it to be fairly active. Before leaving for
Lucky Hammock and the Annex we had 12 species of warblers, a Traillii's and a
Summer Tanager.
At Lucky Hammock\Annex we saw 6-8 Sandhill Cranes, a few shore birds and several
raptors. There was some warbler activity, but mostly BT Blues, Ovenbirds and
Parula. So we headed back to Royal Palm and Research Rd.
At Royal Palm we saw our first Prairie warbler of the day. That was the only new
bird there.
Research Rd. produced a Northern Water Thrush and a Swainson's Thrush along with
more of the same.
Over all it was a good day birding although we were expecting to see more birds.
