October is here, bringing with it the age-old tradition of birding and beer! This morning, while birding Barnes (no beer yet folks, I promise), the following were seen:
15 wood-warbler species:
Northern Parula (many)
Worm-eating (1)
Magnolia (1)
Cape May (at least 2)
Blackpoll (several, 1st winter birds)
Black-throated Blue (many)
American Redstart (many)
Ovenbird (many)
Northern Waterthrush (2)
Swainson's (1)
Yellow-throated (2)
Tennessee (at least 2)
Blackburnian (at least 2)
Prairie (several)
Black-and-white (several)
Also:
Willow Flycatcher (seen and calling and seen calling, yesterday and today)
Yellow-billed Cuckoo
Summer Tanager
Red-eyed Vireo
Blue-gray Gnatcatcher
Most of the activity was in the ficus trees by the lake. Good luck and bird on!
