Just spent a couple of hours birding this morning. There were more mosquitoes than birds. Saw some Purple Martins on wires along the road leading to Lucky Hammock and more of them on the wires between Lucky Hammock and the Annex. Otherwise, some of the highlights (!) were White-eyed Vireo, Barn Swallow, Red-shouldered Hawk, Mockingbird, Loggerhead Shrike, Cardinal, Northern Flicker and Red-bellied Woodpecker.

I stopped along the road leading to Anhinga Trail and saw two Blue-gray Gnatcatchers and a Downy Woodpecker. At the Anhinga Trail parking lot, I heard then saw a Yellow-billed Cuckoo. I could hear another calling in the distance as well. Oddly enough, I didn t see any Anhingas or Cormorants along the Trail.
